This time around, we've tried something a little different--celebrity portraits! Think you can recognize my versions of a quartet of Hollywood stalwarts? Take a peek--answers below.

But first, it's time for the Spidey to get a little help with his seemingly never ending battle against The Sinister Six! (Click image to view larger...)

What a glorious time of year, eh?

There's wonderful music being piped everywhere you go:

"We Three Gods of Asgard Are"
"Hark! The X-Men's Angel Sings!"
"All I Want For Christmas Is Two Mint Copies Of Amazing Spider-Man #1"

..and that perennial favorite,
"I Saw Mommy Kissing Stan Lee (under the Christmas Tree last night...)"

I trust you all had a swell Christmas yesterday, yes?

And I assume perhaps some of you received good old fashioned cash to commemorate the holiday, hmm?

What then to do with it?

Well, to quote the estimable Stan Lee:

Is there a more welcome sound this time of year than the extraordinary transformation given that perennial holiday chestnut, "Jingle Bells", by Bing Crosby, the Andrew Sisters, and Vic Schoen's Orchestra into one of the most perfect swing recordings of all time? Nope.

And on that seasonal note, let's ease into a few new card offerings (Ebay link here), including one that portends another, upcoming day of celebration...

Before we begin today's round of show and sell, let me direct you to a short essay Tom Spurgeon (of The Comic Reporter) wrote concerning the Fantaco edition of my first collection of strips, 1980's "Hembeck: The Best of Dateline:@#$!". As is the norm with Tom's writing, it's well-thought out, making some keen observations about the era in which the book was published. Plus, it's a positive review, so who am I to complain? Thanks, Mr. S!

(And as far as the matter of reviewing a thirty year old publication goes, hey, why not? Folks over at IMDB are still offering their critiques of "Birth Of A Nation", after all--and MY book doesn't glamorize the Ku Klux Klan one single iota!...)

Onto the art, starting with yet another Spidey/Sinister Six tableau--only THIS time around, we've mixing in The Green Goblin, with semi-startling results. Click the image for a larger look.

THEN, get ready for some more holiday cheer, Hembeck-style...
SPIDER-MAN versus The SINISTER SIX--AND The GREEN GOBLIN!!!
Attention Santa-philes: that's gonna be pretty much it for ol' St. Nick this year, so grab 'em while you can!

Here's your complimentary Ebay link!!

Ho ho ho! Be good little boys and girls and do come back, won't you?

I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge the recent passing of long-time comics artist Jon D'agostino.

I can't honestly claim he was ever one of my favorite cartoonists, but he was there, front and center, when this particular mania of mine began. Y'see, there were more than a few comics boasting his artwork included in the hefty cardboard box my dad brought home to six year old me (after a co-worker's kid had outgrown them--can you imagine?...) that wound up hooking me for life: TIMMY THE TIMID GHOST, LI'L GENIUS, and MY LITTLE MARGIE, among plenty of other Charlton titles.

Last year, I was commissioned to redo a pair of his MY LITTLE MARGIE covers. In doing so, I gained a far greater appreciation for his effortlessly concise style. I never met the man, but I have a couple of good friends who knew him quite well, and they've always spoken very highly of him as an individual. Jon D'agostino was still actively working in the field right up until the end.

I salute you, sir, and sincerely thank you for whatever part your amiably amusing artwork played in pointing me towards whatever exactly it is I am today!
